Art for Good: Creating A Better World
Hey, it’s Kizune! This past June, I had the privilege of being part of a truly heartwarming event that blended creativity with compassion.
Hosted by the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, the 2025 Pet Portrait Fundraiser was an art gallery unlike any other!
Volunteer artists were each given a photo of a rescue pet and asked to create a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by that animal. The resulting collection was a vibrant, heartwarming tribute to the lives of our animal friends that we strive to protect and uplift.
As an artist, it is always a deeply meaningful experience to use my skills in service of something bigger than myself. Each art piece was created with intention, to capture the personality and spirit of beloved creatures. Creatures who, like those the ARL cares for, deserve love, safety, and a fur-ever home! The event showcased how art can connect people to causes in a powerful and personal way.

All proceeds went directly to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption efforts of the ARL.

My submission. The cutie I was assigned to is named Peter.
Knowing that a portrait I created could help fund a pet’s medical care or find them a family reminded me why I fell in love with art in the first place. Being an artist is not only a wonderful outlet for expressing oneself, but a means to inspire and make a difference in the lives of others.
Art has the power to tell stories, evoke empathy, and call to action. This event proves that when creativity meets kindness, the results can change lives for both humans and animals alike! Donating art to charity or fundraisers, volunteering to teach art, or creating messages that raise awareness about important issues are some amazing ways to get started!
So, if there is a story in your heart that you feel inspired to share, please do the world a favor and express yourself! An individual effort can feel like a single drop in a bucket, but I promise you are part of a collective as grand as a waterfall.

My art piece was one of a hundred, but look what we achieved together!
Your heart and your art matter, and together… they make a difference.
xoxo, Kizune
